The New Year Health Check Up

Welcome to the year 2013, anything is possible and nothing has been determined yet. This is the way that we here at CYB hope you are approaching this new year, it is the time of resolutions to be made and resolutions to be broken. What we wanted to look in this post was more long term ideas for the year.

Setting out what you hope to achieve for the year is a great way to gain perspective of what steps you should be taking to make 2013 a great year. We have put together a few ideas that you should consider at the start of the year.

To have a good year you want to make sure that you are starting off on the right foot so stop putting off going to the doctor and go and get a general checkup. Even if you are feeling fine the reassurance from the doctor that everything is fine is always a boost and if there has been a nagging worry that you have been putting off then you will be able to plan what to do should the news not be ideal.

Eye tests are another example of a straight forward exam that people are forever putting off. Simply make an appointment in January to head to your local opticians and find out if you have any issues that need to be taken care of.

If there are problems or issues that need to be addressed it is best to face up to them and get them out of the way. Knowing what you are dealling with will take a huge amount of stress off your shoulders and will allow you to see past the actual problem.


The start of the new year could be the perfect time for you to re-evaluate your diet. This will play into the health part of your check list as a healthy diet will contribute to overall wellbeing.

A goal for 2013 might be to lose weight and balancing up your diet is a great way to contribute towards that goal. Making an overall plan of what you are looking to achieve will allow you to organise the steps to reach your goal. It is also a good idea to try and pre plan your meals, this can be done weekly so you know exactly what you are having when, this will reduce the temptation to snack between meals.

Diet plays a huge role in our well being so make 2013 the year when you take control of your diet and rather than try fad diets or crash dieting eat healthy and regularly. Spring Clean

It may not be spring time just yet but while taking down all the festive decorations have a look around and see if there is anything else that you can clear out to open up some fresh space.

We all have a tendancy to hold onto items just incase we might ever find another use for them. Waste not, want not is the thinking but at times we have to change that thinking and look at things as a new start.

Clearing out junk is a great way to help you focus on the year in hand. Having less clutter around you is a great way to have a calmer thought process, it also removes a great procrastination option, there will be no more distractions going on.

Spring cleaning may sound like a really simple idea but the benefits from getting your house in order with respect to getting your year in order go hand in hand.


Think back over 2012, are there people who are in your life but only on the outskirts? Why not look to make 2013 the year when you make the effort to keep the people you want in your life.

Through modern day communication it has never been easier to stay in touch with people all over the world. This does't mean that writing a letter should be overlooked, on the contrary, a hand written letter will mean a lot more to someone than a facebook message.

You may be of the view that the people who are around are the people that should be in your life but make sure to take a step back and look at the broad range of people that you know, people who are important to you may have slipped away just through busy lifestyles. So make 2013 the year when you get in touch and work at relationships.
